Help Amarula Save the African Elephants!

Help Amarula Save the African Elephants

There is never a better excuse to buy a bottle when it’s going towards a good cause. And when it’s something delicious to drink for a really good cause – even better. I was so honored when Amarula invited us to experience an “African Safari” from my living room. Maybe one day I’ll get to have the actual trip! But in the meantime, the suitcase filled with goodies really drove their important message home, which is to Save The African Elephants!

“One African elephant is currently lost every 15 minutes to poachers for their ivory tusks; Amarula is taking a stance to change that.”

For every bottle of Amarula you purchase, they are donating $1 to WildlifeDIRECT. The funds will support on-the-ground conservation efforts to protect African elephants, and the promotion will continue through the end of the year.

The #DontLetThemDisappear campaign is not just a marketing gimmick. It’s authentic and the real deal from their hearts. I’m proud to help spread their message.

Check out all the goodies they sent in a safari looking suitcase that is still proudly displayed when you first walk into my house. Thanks to my friend, John, who filled in for my husband. John was already a huge fan of Amarula and has been on multiple safari adventures. He was the perfect choice to open the box with and yes, he ended up taking some goodies home. Just NOT the bottle of Amarula!

Amarula is the original and only cream liqueur which uses real Marula fruit as its base spirit, harvested from Marula trees that grow wild and uncultivated in the subequatorial regions of Africa- the only place on the entire planet where they grow. They even sent us a few of the actual fruit.

Marula Fruit

The trees bear their fruit just once a year at the end of Africa’s summer, which scent attracts the elephants from the surrounding areas to come feast on the fruit. The Marula fruit is then hand-harvested in the wild and the Marula ‘spirit’ is distilled and matured in French oak barrels for at least two years, during which time characteristics of vanilla and caramel are naturally imparted. These flavors are further enhanced by the addition of cream to give Amarula its rich, velvety texture.
