We Got Your Number!

A while back we were sent five fancy flavored tonic waters from Peter Spanton. They were so cool we didn’t want to waste them. A special occasion was needed, along with a special drink. So when our good friends (thanks Deborah & George) invited us over and told us they were making a drink found in the New York Times, we volunteered to bring the tonics.

When we arrived at their home, we were pleasantly surprised to find the drink of the day was using cardamom as an ingredient. Tonic No 9 is a cardamom flavor. What are the odds?

The other ingredients included Hendrick’s Gin (or in Robert’s case Stolil Vodka), fresh grapefruit and basil.

You can find the recipe here: http://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1014760-genevrier-des-sud

Needless to say, they were delicious. So good in fact, that we ended up also trying it with the tonic No 5, which was Lemongrass flavored.

We didn’t get into Tonic No. 1 London Tonic, Tonic No. 4 Chocolate or No. 6 London Soda. In fact, we left them behind so we will have to get the low down from our hosts. If they were anything like 5 and 9, they are going to be amazing. Clean, refreshing, with a hint of  enhancement.

Peter Spanton is definitely on to something. The tonics are currently not available in the States, making us feel very hip and cool. But they have plans to come here soon. They promised to share the news when it happens, so we will let you know. And for those of you in the UK, stock up! Find out where you can purchase on their website http://www.peterspanton.com

Cheers!
