Feeling a Little Oh La La Tonight?

We don’t always say yes when brands offer to send us products. When we do it’s because we love it or we have never heard of it before and it sounds interesting. In this case, it was the latter. Belle de Brillet was definitely not something in our liquor cabinet already. And it’s still the only pear flavored thing we own.

It’s certainly one of the fancier things as it is from France. Oh La La.

It is produced by the 10th generation family-owned Maison Brillet. Located in the heart of the Cognac region, Belle de Brillet (SRP $25.99 in a 375ml or SRP $45.99 in a 750ml ) is a pear liqueur produced through the infusion of Brillet cognac with the essence of French Williams Pears. It is sold in an super elegant pear-shaped bottle.

All that being said, we had no clue what do with it. Luckily, not only did they send us some recipes, but the fancy box included a tag with some more suggestions. We first tried it straight as recommended. It has a nice taste that is perfect for an after dinner drink. You get the pear flavor with a hint of vanilla. Very refreshing. However, it was enjoyed a lot more as a blonde, a strawberry blonde that is.

Strawberry Blonde

French Inspired Cocktails

  • 1 oz Belle de Brillet
  • 1 oz Bourbon (see why we went with this choice?!?)
  • 3/4 oz Lime Juice
  • Strawberry
  • Ginger Beer

Muddle lime juice and strawberry. Add spirits and shake with ice. Strain into a highball glass. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with candied ginger (we did NOT have that) and a sliced strawberry.

It was not as sweet as expected. It was very sophisticated taste that would be perfect for an elegant pool-side party.

We can’t wait to play around with this some more and are happy to share these suggestions from NYC-based Mixologist Jamie Rios.

“Belle de Brillet Pear Liqueur provides a wonderful natural sweetness. I like to use it in place of sugar or simple syrup; the fresh pear flavors and aromas combine with the cognac mouthfeel is a delicious addition to many favorite summertime cocktails,” explains Jamie.  Listed below are three specialty cocktails created by Jaime.
