Not to date myself but when I hear the name Norm my brain automatically goes Nooooorrrrrmmmm and I think of the tv show Cheers. But a guy named Rodger is changing that thinking.  His dad, Norm, wanted to protect and preserve America’s farm lands while also ensuring that we would have enough food to feed the world. It’s a cool story that you should go here to read.

Long story short, these really good people have become king of the Elderberries. Until I heard about Norm’s Farms, all I knew was that I liked St. Germaine and it’s an Elderflower Liqueur. Did I know how truly good this little purple fruit was for me? Absolutely not. It’s a little overwhelming how elderberry antioxidant compares to other super fruits. Without getting all statistical on you, let’s just say it blows everything else away.

They were kind enough to send us some of their products to try out. They have great recipes on their website and they sent some recipe cards, but I have to be honest. They sat on our counter for a while. I wasn’t sure what we would do with them. And then our daughter saw the recipe for Elderberry-Lemon Shortbread bars. Totally not booze related but you MUST make these for yourself. Click here for recipe. The only thing we did differently was add Norm’s Elderberry Extract. Needless to say, they did not last long in my house. We don’t even have a photo of them finished because we devoured them so quickly! Without a doubt, they are my all-time favorite dessert. Kind of like a cheesecake but so much better. Hopefully you have a baker in your house!

Now that the wheels had started turning it was time to make some cocktails. Keeping it simple, I used their Elderflower syrup with some Gin. It was delicious! A simple, easy to make drink that is perfect for sipping all summer long. I may not have a farm, but it inspired me to sit and drink by my garden.
